T5 g/box - noise whilst idling with second engaged

Just noticed this eve that there is a definite light knocking noise on my Chim T5 box with the engine idling, clutch in and second engaged. Not there in first or third and generally selecting ok (subject to comment below), with no vibration or roughness apparent.
Clearly something amiss but wonder whether it's more likely to be syncro rings than bearings (been a tad baulky first to second for quite a while and has loadsa miles on). Anyone come across this before?
