Hi guys looking to do my front tyres very soon, shall i get 225,35,18...or 225 40,18s,kinda fancy 35 profile tyres but will this make the front too harsh.Think car would look better with a lower profile tyre but i suppose i should consider the perfomance before looks.

mine was on 40s all round, now got 35s on the rear cos it was tooooooo close to the body and did rub when the right foot was pressed into carpet.I know spiders arnt the strongest wheels so i dont want to wreck em with lower profile tyres.aint heard bad things about 35 profile tyres and am tempted.

could it be the off set and not the tyre making it rub ?

what you got at the moment , tuscan front and rears or fronts all round ?

Not sure, wheels have been on the car from near day one so should be correct.think if they were 17s all would be fine, but 18s with 40 profile must be wrong.

Id take the backs off and check the off set,

If there tuscan rears,,, exchanging them for tuscan fronts should cure the rub.

But if there tuscan fronts already ,,,, go for 35 tyres

I hope that makes sense

You can check the offset with your finger - just poke it between the front spokes to touch the hub and use your thumb to mark where on your finger the wheel touches, then with thumb still in place do the same at the rear. If your finger doesn't reach the hub you have 'rear' wheels on the back.

Re rubbing, this can be alleviated by using more negative camber - simple adjustment with 2 16mm (or 9/16ths) sockets on the adjuster. There's a slot for adjustment. I run mine in the middle of the slot - not sure how much camber that is wink. A side benefit is more rear lateral grip and better looks IMO. Never had a problem with uneven tyre wear.

40 series on the front is good - protects the rims from potholes..

Mine runs 35s on the front, it doesn't strike me as being excessively harsh and have had no wheel buckling issues (touchwood).

35s on the front - just avoid Bridgestone SO3s and runflat rubbish.
