That 'ring crash: Liam Doran speaks

Last week we saw Liam Doran wipe out his Litchfield tuned GT-R - this vid celebrates its final moments

"Fear nothing, risk everything" it says beneath Liam Doran's Monster Energy team logo. A motto that did kinda bite him on the behind last week at the Nurburgring when PH saw him spectacularly total his Litchfield tuned Nissan GT-R at the first turn on the 'new' GP track. The vid below pairs Doran with fellow Monster Energy loon Ben Wallace, holder of the highest recorded backflip on a BMX. Doran thanks sponsors Forge Motorsport and Litchfield for making his car fly so high, before admitting he didn't quite pull his flip off... No kidding!

"I didn't quite pull my flip off," says Doran
"I didn't quite pull my flip off," says Doran
The mystery orange Corvette mentioned in our initial story on the crash may well have been the man behind the grassy knoll in the whole affair but, whatever the exact circumstances, to his credit Doran has released a video that makes light of his epic close shave and celebrates his heavily tuned GT-R's abilities shortly before its equally spectacular demise. And, whatever happened at the end of that pit straight, there is no doubting that the boy can drive and more than lives up to that slogan.

Can't say I think much of his driving.

Oversteers too much. Too fast into the corner, too slow out of the corner. He's not very smooth. Not even taking the racing line.

He is not going to achieve much in competitive motorsport unless he starts driving more smoothly IMO.

Anyone would think he was drifting deliberately ! wink

Didn't he beat a two world rally champion for the gold medal at the xgames ?

Still a douchebag who ruined the day for everyone else trying to outbrake a more capable vehicle.

But yes, good sideways skills. Marginally redeeming.

Like his style... but if he keeps that up his luck will run out one day... he was very lucky it wasn't at The Ring.

7 minute lap after a mere 5 laps!

Tripe. What an assclown.

I think he has what's called an external locus of control.

Was hoping for a clear explanation from the driver so as to stop all the rumours.
The main one seems to be too fast into the corner and not brake failure.

There is a full explanation from Liam. We interviewed him last week and offered Dan the chance to use his comments verbatim, but as far as I know, we've heard nothing back.

If you can't wait, then Google it (Liam Doran the real story...), or (as offered a few days ago), Dan you're welcome to publish parts of the interview, provided you give a nod to Adnan (of Car Throttle) who asked the difficult questions.. wink

I'm surprised his slogan doesn't say 'Doran - Powerfully Built' smile
