M5 tyre question

My E60 M5 is running on very worn Pilot Sport 285/35 ZR 19's on the rear and I've been offered a pair of 285/30 ZR19's - will they fit/ be safe?

It'll fit, ride will be firmer, speedo will under read (assuming it's accurate in the first place), it will look odd in the arch and on a car like that it may play tricks on the electical systems/SMGII, due to the lower rolling circumference.

I know a lot of people will gasp at thought but i can thoroughly recommend Vredestien Ultrac Sessanta XL tyres. Had them on my RS6 and they are better than 90% of the snob brands. In the wet they cant be beat. They also wear well too and have a handy rimprotection edge. On top of that they can be had for £240 a corner if you look hard.

Just have to reiterate the previous post. Give the Vreds just one shot and I doubt you'll go back, really are top class especially with our climate.

They are going on my E61 M5 in the next month, once the Dunlops are burnt out.

275/35/19 id the standard fit on the rears though.

Is it? On both of my M5s it has had 285s on the rear and 255s to the front.

Ooops! My mistake. I do appologise. Seems the E61 has a 275 rear fit vs the E60's 285's. That'll be to do with the fact that the E61 M5 has 1/2" narrower rear rims.

Sorry if i confused things. Its something i did not take into consideration but does actually make sense.

Would it not cause the speedo to over read? For any given speed the wheels will be turning more often with the lower profile tyres.
