I am looking for some form of clamp / mount that will clamp around the chassis tubing so I can mount heat some nimbus shielding.
Something akin to a munsen ring here:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BRASS-MUNSEN-RING-40MM-1...

or flag mount here:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300675153168?ssPageName=...

Ideally it should allow for a 6mm stud or screw to atach the Nimbus to.

Any ideas?

Just a bit worried about compromising strength of tubing (and non reversible mod) but on reflection probably ok to do.

Still, would like to hear other ideas though.

Have a look at some fuel pump/filter holders/mountings. Some come with 2 to 5 mm rubber lining that may reduce the internal diameter down to something usable. Just a thought.

Find someone with a lathe or even a mill, easy to make from a piece of ally plate then just drill and cut in half.

Hi Tony

I used rubber lined stainless p clips and an insulated spacer for mine. Cheap, works a treat and grips the tube well.

Thanks for the suggestions so far, clap maybe I'm trying too hard, I have a lathe but I want probably a dozen or so clips and the time it would take me to make them far outweighs paying someone else to do it for me.
The P clip Idea I had thought of but I think I'm looking for somthing in the middle of these two ideas.
cheers.

Any more bright sparks out there?

I hope that is genuine 'Post Office' string. Would not want anyone using something inferior.
