Looks like an interesting club to join. Anyone on here in it?

Noticed a V8 Vantage review

http://www.supercardriver.com/features-magazine/as...

With some fantastic pictures of the writers V12 Vantage, looks like the heater control knobs have been changed so thought it might be someone on here.

That review has pictures of a 4.3 & a V12 in it which confused me.
V8 Animal on here is a member but he has a 4.3 roadster.
I've been contemplating it but could do with a bit more feedback on it.
Any one else joined?

+1 to that. Why anyone would pay a large amount that could easily fund a car of your own, to drive a supercar for a few days a year is just beyond me

It's not a hire club, its an owners club.

I've been to SCD events, good fun, especially the convoys. Most things are in the North which doesn't work so well for me but it's very lighthearted and run by Adam who's a decent chap.

You will note I have thus declared an accurate insertion on Michael's list.

Seems a bizarre thing to hate, you pay money, you get to drive stuff, it's not for everyone but it's cheaper than owning any of the cars you get to drive and you get to drive a wider choice of them.

A good and logical thought process there Jockman, but alas no. Still chained to my desk and looking wistful, sober and decidedly unhappy.

I wrote the article and they are both my cars - well, they were, the V8 has gone. That's only about half of the article, the second part is about the V12 and how it compares with the V8.

The photos were taken by Craig Garside, a pro who occasionally posts on here. The interior shots are from the V8, which is why the knobs may look different.

As you can tell, black is the new black for me when it comes to Vantages. biggrin

Supercar Driver is a very friendly club and hosts some good events with a wide variety of machinery. Importantly for me it is based in the north on a Sheffield/Manchester axis so the events are relatively local.

Good to hear any other benefits or comments?

Because they're not your cars......They're just hire cars......the whole point surely is to own the cars not hire them......naff naff naff......the only acception is if you can't decide which super car you want, then suppose its a good way of trying them out ......ish

It's not a substitute for owning, but it's great to do as well. You get to try a bunch of different things and get a much better idea of what cars that you would never own are really like.

I'm a member of the Supercardriver club along with Captain Beaky and V8 Animal. I have been for the last 2 years. Its a fantastic club and would recommend it to anyone. The amount of fun you have speaking with likeminded people and seeing the amount of variety is just fantastic.

Was worth joining just to see the Bugatti Veyron Supersport up close/inside and with us in a road rally.

Like Dan says it's the variety of cars that's appealing. Having a run out with them you just don't know what your'e going to follow or be followed by that's what gives me the buzz.
Also i have found theres no snobbery no matter what you drive.
Don't get much for £40 wink
