I grew up in the UK, sandwiches were 99% bread, 0.9% marg or butter and 0.1% filling.

Then I lived in the States, and you're down to 20% bread, 80% filling and who cares if marg or butter is in there.

Now back in the UK and making sarnies at work I much prefer the US method and pile as much as I can in a baguette.

Is this wrong? My colleagues seem to think so as I spill half the filling over my desk, keyboard, face etc...

No this is the correct thing to be doing, see the bread as a challenge, not a restriction

I sometimes order sandwiches at work and the company that makes them totally overload on fillings, osmetimes to the extent that you cannot even handle the sandwich properly. I often have to tell them to go easy o nthe cheese, I don't want to eat a whole block FFS.

If you dont have to squash the bread down to get it in your mouth. There is not enough filling in the sandwich.

Filling to bread ratio has to be at least 1:2. If not i just find the sandwich far too dry. For this reason a tend to go down the wrap route now and again.

I figure if you're spilling filling onto the desk then you've got too much filling. Alternatively give up with the bread, put a big dollop of filling in some tupperware and bring a fork.

The key thing is that it all stays intact, otherwise the point of a sandwich is lost and you might as well eat it with a knife and fork off a plate.

I like generous fillings but hate it when it all starts to cascade out the sides or all over your face.
