Paint Stripper that actually works
Discussion
need some paint stripper to take few layers off some metal work before repainting
its the time of the year so have also been tasked with painting other metal work other than car parts i.e. - gate, garage door etc
used Nitromors which is expensive and useless,
also used this polycell 'extra strong' gel which is also useless
A friend suggested getting some Cellulose thinners which he claims is very strong and probably the most effective stripper
Anyone recommend a brand or alternative that actually works
ps. - stripper puns acceptable

I think nitromors may have been reformulated recently to be less toxic, and as a result less useful.
This is correct, to comply with some a EU regulation banning the active ingredient. I just bought some "NEW" nitromors which is useless, whereas the remnants in a 4 yr old can work a treat. Stupid EU.Nitromors useless? I used it today to strip off the old paint from my rocker cover. I put on a thick layer, and within 10 minutes it had eaten right through to bare metal. All it required was a quick going over with a scraper and some fine emry paper to perfect the metal ready for new paint.
YOU MUST BE USING IT WRONG OP!!

What you need is paint stripper containing "Dichloromethane " and "Phenol".
Both removed from nitromors a few yrs ago, as a general rule any paint stripper in a metal can is no good, you want a plastic container for the good stuff.
I sell the "Good" stuff but won't post a link incase I break any rules.
Just search "starchem paint stripper 5 ltrs" will bring you results.
Expect to pay £19.99 for 5 ltrs

Would this work? http://www.alloypaints.com/paint-stripper-5-ltrs-7...
Bizarre
at the Nitromoors thing.
Used it lots restoring old motorbikes, never had a problem.
Used a new tin the other day to strip original paint from footrest hangers, to make them back to bare alloy. Worked a treat, paint all off, alloy undamaged. Quick polish up - they now look great.
