So its end of financial year...

Gov announce a possible shortage... panic begins... coincides with pay day.

Result - Gov makes a huge amount of profit.

Few days later they say the strike may have been resolved now and things will be just fine... sounds iffy to me.

The MP who made this boo boo about filling up may be the best sales man in the world.... ever biggrin

See my post in the main fuel panic thread - it's not about making more money, it's about making sure that we get more 'economic activity' in the current financial quarter to try and avoid officially going into recession again. Plus it shoves all those awkward questions about rich people being able to buy favours from the Prime Minister off the news ....

Typical 'professional mendacity' from our political leaders. The manipulation was a prime example of how politicians lead the sheep with the aid of the media.

The overall sales of fuel are not increasing, only being brought forward wink

If anything the government will take less in tax as people use their cars less 'just in case'.

It's not as though anyone was coerced into buying something they don't need or can't use at a later date.

Of course anyone bought panic petrol or diesel and they don't own or drive a car, they are clearly a moron.hehe

Pay the man now or pay him later, either way he gets paid. Never could understand people who just put £10 or £20 in an empty tank, just fill it up and be done with it. You are only delaying the inevitable and with fuel costs rising almost daily it is costing you more if you delay it.

One of my lads wife is the manager of a local filling station.

Usual Thursday you are looking at £45,000 approx in sales.

Yesterday they sold £111,000 of fuel.

That's £88,000 to the government .

Remember that next time your filling up with your hard earned.

So the government asked Unite if they would start speculation about driver strikes so the government could be slightly creative with the accounts, and they said they'd be more than willing to help?

Unless people are now going to go off and do panic driving to burn that petrol off, it'll resolve itself in about a week.
