When I was out today going gently over a speed bump she started missing badly. I pulled over straight away and knocked it off waited 1 minute and tried to start it. She just spun and stunk of petrol so waited 10 minutes but same again then 15 and same again, eventually it started rough with lots of smoke fulid coming out the exhaust and stinking of petrol. Made it home seemed to clear a bit but seems to have a bit of a miss on tick over so what do you think would be the best course of action to get it on a computer or do some basic checks
thanks

Might not be this but just in case, check your fuel hoses in the engine bay, they are prone to cracking and can fail and spray fuel all over the engine causing a fire.
The two hoses come up near the base of the windscreen on the driver's side under the bonnet, close to the stepper motor. If they were cracked, the jolt from the speed hump may have finished them off.

Are there some easy checks on the leads and extenders like maybe resistance or something I don't think it was related to the speed bump I think it was that I let off the throttle and it flooded for some reason. I just wondered wether there were any simple checks anyone could suggest thanks
I had the same thing on my V8S recently. Running really rough, wouldn't accelerate and loads and loads of white smoke coming out of the exhaust with a smell of neat petrol.
Spoke with an experienced V8 mechanic and he said that it was probably an injector sticking open, not totally uncommon, especially on infrequently used cars.
The bad news is that if it sticks wide open then it can pass enough fuel into the cylinder to hydraulic the engine, not good. Probably best not to drive it until you've got it fixed.
I would suggest getting the injectors out and cleaned, or replacing them with recon units.

Just a simple ohm meter. The low voltage used by the meter will soon tell you if you have a break in the lead, because it can't jump any gaps.spend said:
Pull the plugs out to see whats going on.
If you have got an injector stuck open you will be able to tell straight away.
A wet plug will tell you so. Alao a post mentioned fuel coming out of the exhaust was cured with a new AFM. First check the connections on the AFM are clean and tight. Also the AFM plug holding clip is not looseIf you have got an injector stuck open you will be able to tell straight away.

This is very possible. I had an intermittent problem that took me 3 years to find as it
Was so rare when tha fault occured.
The engine would start to miss badly and smell of petrol. The fault
Would normally clear after turning the ignition off then restarting.
After 3 years i found that injector 7 was shorting to ground ( this is what the ECU does to make the injector inject)
This meant that when injector 7 went short this made all injectors on passenger
Side of engine inject continuously (as they are wired in parallel) which flooded the engine instantly.
As i said i only diagnosed it after 3 years when the fault went permanent.
Hope this helps a little.
With your fault i would be looking at the airflow meter too.

It was the injector itself that was shorting to ground on the ground side which
As explained made all injectors on that bank inject constantly.
The wiring was fine all the way back to ECU.
I'm sure if you search on here there was a post about testing your
AFM, blitzRacing is your man with the knowhow.
