Can anyone help me on a couple of issues with my 1999 cerbera.

1. after driving for 15 mins, a clanking sound appears. If i hit the brakes the clanking stops, then starts again when brakes released. I have had the front disks re-skimmed, to no effect. any ideas ?

2. Got white powder, coating on airintake box passenger side. I have read this could be bonnet rubbing, and powder mixing with rain, is this correct.

3. Got water leak, drivers side, carpet getting wet, how do i get this sorted.

Probably the pads moving.
Happens on a lot of Cerberas, normally more so on early ones, annoying
but nothing to worry about.

Has been reported a few times, so sounds like it.

Normally either running down the door seal (split rubber) or coming in via
a serious of holes in the bulkhead.

For a good job, I'd have an expert look at it, but between you and a mate, you might
be able to sort it.

Go create some weather...

Andrew

Had the same noise on my rear pads - as they are free to "move" on the pins they will rattle. Took mine to Andy at APM and he has fixed it with some self adhesive tape on the metal face of the pads (I think it was carpet tape!) which then sticks to the pistons.

No more rattles and dead easy to do!!

Have fun

Similar story with my rear brakes after they have warmed up, sticking to the piston is one way another is copper slip on back of pads but you will need to reapply.

PS Off topic but Weatherboard wher have you been, not seen you at any Hants meets this year.

Slight hijack but vaguely related - squealing brakes!

Is it a case of TADTS? Or would a dollop of copper grease magic it away?

Sorry to respond to a hijack but....

I am very well, but as am up to armpits in building works at the mo at home have not had a lot of free time- however the beast is now ensconsed in its new lair and am looking forward (as is family!) to getting back out and about.

Went to South Wales last weekend and (getting back on Thread) no clanking or rattling at all.

Cheers
