Mk 2 Punto clutch whine 2003 ?

In the past few days I've noticed a whining noise on my mum's 2003 fiat punto 1.2, when the car is in neutral it doesn't make the whining noise but when you depress the clutch and the car is moving in gear it does, any ideas?
