Its not all about pretty colours !its more about will you bang your head on it in a crash, remember roll bars are designed to be used with a helmet .

Apart from some bespoke ones i have seen to date i have not seen one i am happy with

This one is the worst, a side impact would cause terrible injuries due to the side bar position .Some of the others leave you with no leg room especially for the passenger.

Please someone come up with a better design ! A side shunt in this car would probably kill you confused

Have these bars have been tested !

I don't see how that roll bar makes the car less safe in a side shunt?

I'm having this one fitted to the chim in a few weeks time, side bars are set further back so side impact should not be an issue I wont be wearing a helmet 99% of the time.

Still don`t like it ,the bar is to close ..Even a low speed shunt could give you a broken skull ..Takes nothing to get a head injury ,I know all about it had three years off work due being thrown off my push bike .

Got to say i do like dhf Dermots roll bar !

The best roll bar fitted to any TVR is the Tuscan convertible .
It also takes the mounting point for the seat belt to a far safer location.

I'm sure a bit off light engineering design could see a version made for the Chimaera & Griffith chassis

I know before long I want one fitted before my daughter starts doing track days in mine.

Indeed, it's the only one I've seen so far on TVRs that I'd consider suitable for a road car - and it looksv very acceptable, too...

After all these years on here I'm still left wondering why no aftermarket roll bar is designed the way any and every OEM fitment is (roll hoops behind the seats, and entirely covered by them in a lateral sense so there's no way you can hit them with your head as long as the seat is still in position). OEM fitments go through a rather elaborate crash test regime so if every fixed roll bar on 2 seat convertibles looks the same, it should tell one something. wink

Daz, that's a picture of mine when it was constructed, it had padding fitted to the bars adjacent to head level after that pic.

That other bar is in the same position as mine but I bolted the passenger seat right back and the drivers is very far back as well cos I'm tall!

So now I'm getting worried about having mine fitted - I had planned to put padding around the bars to provide head / bar impact protection, will that be enough >?

I'd love some hoops but no one is doing them and they look like they need a fair bit of engineering to avoid being just cosmetic.

Ive got the rollcenter one in mine
It's narrower and fits further back to keep it out of the way of your head
