My sister's RX8 needs a new rear differential at three years old, after only 14,000km (9000 miles) of very light driving from new. Apparently the cluch surfaces(?) within the limited slip diff are slipping, causing the car to judder when turning.

Anyway, all under warranty, and the new part was ordered by the Mazda main dealer on 29 February, estimated at 10-14 days delivery from Japan.

A full month later the part hasn't arrived and is now on indefinite back order from Japan. The dealer tells us that they have been having lots of trouble sourcing parts from Mazda Japan, and put the delays down to the longer term effects od the tsunami affecting the supply chain.

Is anyone else (anywhere in the world) experiencing similar problems with sourcing Mazda parts?

Sounds possible. I'm guessing various parts would come from different suppliers and if that supplier was in its path they would loose stock and the machines etc that produce them. A colour that Corvette was offered in was discontinued as the paint came from that area of Japan and the factory got wiped out
