Project Seat back

Board with the black plastic finish of my seat backs and it was looking a little scabby, I had a go at the following.......





It looks best with the roof down, the curves and angles on the seat backs show the flip of the paint superbly. New alloy bolts and black washers plus a silver painted bead finish it nicely. Dropping the roof will be made easier (no creases in the screen) by a new custom roof with smaller window next week by Alon White. Decats by Jason on Wednesday so all ready for Chatsworth at the end of the month!


I have some paint left and was considering spraying the alloy bars on the door tops and maybe the exhaust shield what do you think I don't want to go OTT with the body colour bits but that paint is bloody expensive and I don't want to waste it.

Thanks guys. It was done in the garage, the finish is good but without dust extraction there are a couple of small imperfections that need to be rubbed out with some 2000 grit paper then re-polished. I don't think Surface & Design have anything to worry about yet! If the body needs painting I will send it to them. I guess blending into existing paint takes skill. I have no painting experience but the results achieved are impressive.

I do this for a living mate, give it a flat with wetndry 1500-2000g and water then bring it back with a mop and G3 compound then a good wax after that and it will look like it really did come from a bodyshop.

Looks a very professional job to me, I think you should be very pleased with what you have done there.

Yes the heat shield looks quite naff unpainted. Might just do it satin black for now.

I did mine in 3M carbon effect covering. I'm hoping to sort out a carbon fibre version of the heat shield but my mate who does bits and bats for my race car has disappeared off the face of the earth!

I tried the 3M wrap last year and it looked bobbins. I think you need to do it in two pieces otherwise the weave looked odd and it started to lift in the heat so I took it off. I looked at having some carbon seat backs made but you have to stip the seat to get the back off so painting them was the best compromise
