Holiday in August - Cuba/Vietnam/Kerala

Hi guys looking for ideas for a two week break the last two weeks of August.

Thought of Vietnam/Laos, Cuba and Kerala so far but each of them seems to be monsoon/hurricane season so thinking about alternatives.

Am I being stupid to rule them out for this reason, any experiences around that time of year? Or other ideas?

Looking for maybe a week of culture/adventure and a week relaxing. Also playing with the idea of a road trip in Canada or the States.

I wouldn't be going anywhere in monsoon season. We always went to Kerala in January.

We've been to Zanzibar in October but August seems fine:

They have Stonetown and the giant tortoises on Prison Island and there are numerous resorts dotted round the island.
