Despite flying through the MOT yesterday, the beast let me down this afternoon, just after having a 'play' with an M3 on the M20!

Looks like the throttle potentiometer / position sensor is the fault so Im going to take it to bits tonight...

Just in case, who knows where I can get a spare from?

If it's the big one (2" diameter), they can be repaired.

Stu, as discussed you might get lucky and repair it. A quick test before you remove it put a decent meter on the connector and check for smooth variation in resistance when you operate the throttle, good luck and give me a call if I can help fella

Last one I swapped due to duff, was fine and it was the connector, as had to swap them due to new one having the different connector.

You can also check the voltage with it connected. to test operation.

Not sure on this but can you not just change the connector/plug end?

I am sure Wedg1e or some one will be along to tell me to stop being a plonker.

Rob

If it's a flapper system then the one on the right is the correct one. and the one you have fitted is wrong.
So you may want to just change the connectors and use the one on the right.

ETA,
Opps I've just say you have a 2.8 the one on the right is for a v8

Leigh.

It has worked fine for the last 4 months since I got it, and the TPS rob sent works in the opposite direction and is spring returned!
the drives on the shaft are also different.

might think about a way around it tomorrow,,,, my head hurts.

Stu, just for info the old / larger pot is part number ERC 3619 with the 3 pin connector with pins in a row.

The newer smaller version with the triangular connector is ETC 4483

Both are no longer available generally so it's a hunt to find them! You will need the the first one I think.

When replacing make sure that the spindle hole is properly sealed as this will cause a air leak and it's associated problems fella

Cheers

Chris
