My supercharged NA...
Discussion
...and a few car history pics as I found them on my Photobucket when uploading the new ones. Copied over from MX5Nutz.
Thought I'd put a little update up re my FI NA.
Here's my first MX5-

and the car I had before (sob, should have kept it- values are through the roof now!)

My old car (sold to a mate) and the turbo-charged one that replaced it:

The car began life as a 1.6 automatic mx5 and is now a manual 220bhp supercharged (11psi), intercooled, built/forged internals bored out 1666 cc with 1.8 brakes, Torsen LSD, Emanage Blue ECU, 370cc injectors and RX7 MAF as well as a Trackdog intercooler and various other bits. What I do know is that Rockdoc built it to an amazing spec and I have receipts for over £10k which doesn't cover everything!
From the original ad: fully built /forged internal/con rods/pistons engine- bored out to 1666cc ,stainless oil pump, crankshaft scraper, , ported /gas flowed/modified head, larger intake/ex valves ( 3000miles max)- (head cost £1500 alone !!!)
extrude honed intake manifold, (smooth on inside) 4-2-1 fujistibo ex man, 2 1/4" stainless twin exhaust.
supercharged/TDR intercooled, dual throttle body kit, RX7 AFM ( larger) ( charger less than 3000 miles )- approx 8 psi boost currently
Emanaged,370cc injectors, dual feed fuel rail with pressure guage, 150mm crank overlay/pulley, Oil cooler, 1.8 brakes, braided brake lines, adjustable KYB/Teins, Jackson front/rear anto roll bars, adjustable drop links, 1.8 Torsen lsd, Completely polybushed.
Spec 2 CLUTCH, ACT PRO=LITE chromoly flywheel- uber light
Racing beat type 2 nose, arch extensions, Raybrigg headlamps.Push button START.
LC-1 wideband with AFR XD-1 Guage

The car will be familiar to some of you as I bought it from a member on here (the aforementioned Rockdoc) - after getting an overnight train from London to Stonehaven, Scotland I drove the car back 10 hours to Essex. The car performed faultlessly but I already had in mind a few things to change on my third MX5 in as many years.
So, as I purchased it-

First to go where the Lexus lights as soon as I got home, the front spots, replacing the number plates, replaced the eBay steering wheel with a Momo and fitted leather seats from my previous car.

Last week I changed the gold wheels to MX5-specific Panasports but unfortunately these are just on loan from a friend whilst I get my RS8s refurbed.

Today I swapped the exhaust from the dual tips to a standard one- bit wussy of me I know but it was just sooo loud and I don't want to attract the wrong kind of attention. Now there is barely any exhaust noise but lots n lots of supercharger loveliness.
Future plans include a smaller rear spoiler, possibly changing the front bumper to a stock one (I like the stealthy look and the MX5 is a classic shape as stock) and maybe (heaven forbid!) changing the springs to slightly higher ones as it is very low at the moment and I'm more interested in driving it than having it stanced. I also have a Hard Dog roll bar to go in from my first '5.
The interior and engine bay wiring need a bit of a tidy up.

Nice, yeah id definitely go back to the stock front bumper and either the standard spoiler or one of the nice looking ducktail ones ive seen on ebay. What's the running costs like with all those performance mods?
I don't really drive it enough to worry too much about fuel consumption but I think it's in the mid-twenties and insurance is cheap as it's on a modified and limited mileage policy (oh and because I'm 32 years old!). Just bought a ducktail spoiler so I'll keep an eye out for a cheap bumper and hopefully get them sprayed at the same time.
I believe one of the few performance headers to fit with an SC is the JR header.
ETA: Actually, the Mk2.5 standard manifold is supposed to be a reasonable upgrade of the Mk1 cast manifold so it could be worth trying Autolink/MX5 Heaven etc. to see if you can get hold of one.
ETA (again): Except I think yours is (was) a 1.6 so maybe not. Unless the Mk2.5 1.6 manifold is a similar tubular design in which case it might also be an improvement...

Do you still have the standard exhaust manifold fitted, having so much trouble trying to get a manifold to fit with a jr m45.
Hi- I have a 4-2-1 fujitsubo fitted but I'm afraid I'm not much help on the technical side as I bought the car complete with the supercharger already installed. Hi Lazza, Mine is a 1.8. so i will keep an eye out for the 2.5. It's not so much the height i know that it as to clear the under side of the charger, my 4-1 manifold hits the bell housing as well.
It seems that the jr ones have had a few problems with cracking ??
I was speaking to one of your fellow mx5'ers at Brighton fish and chip run, i was hoping to see your set up, think he's name might be Sean, silver 2.5 with a m62 set up.

Thats a good manifold so I beleave, a bit pricey like the jr one.

If you saw Sean's setup then you pretty much saw mine. They are almost exactly the same
Thinking about the Mk2.5 manifold... To fit one to a Mk1 I think you'd also have to fit a Mk2.5 cat & midpipe so it might not be quite such a good plan unless you find a cheap car you can strip for parts.

t off a shovel! Post some more pics when you've done your mods, I love the sound of a standard looking supercharged monster.
