After 6 months discovered today that you could turn off the immobiliser with the button on the key fob, instead of taking the usual 5 mins to do it by sticking the wee plastic thing in the steering column smash

Dont worry, it was after only 10 years that Carl Baker told me that the wee plastic thing was only for emergencies.

How does thayt work then, I just have one button and that will just set the alarm if I'm in the car and the imobiliser has come on?

So in that case do it twice - first sets the alarm and the second unsets the alarm and immobiliser.

The previous owner of my car (8+ years) had only ever used the plug-in immobiliser to start the car and so told me to do the same. It was only on my first visit to Dulfords that I learnt the alternative... cool

Turn the ignition key to first position and then press the key fob.

If you unlock the car with the fob and get in quickly ( 15 secs) then the immobiliser will not need to be reset, but mostly I unlock the car, get in, turn ignition on and then press key fob. Fuel pump starts and then I turn the key and starter turns.

The advantages of having purchased from a TVR dealer...
It was on their handover check list of things to tell a new owner biggrin

That's quite a fumble trying to jam the key in and turn on after using the 'stick'; as I recall from having a dead fob battery once.
