I did the same in my last job about 3 years ago. Just chucked them in the skip, never heard anything.

there are environmental laws which "stop" you doing this. Best idea is to donate them to charity if they work...

If some are in working order, there's a company called Recycle IT who may be able to take them off your hands for free.

They will wither find a new home for them or recycle every bit that they can.

Yup - they're are first point of call for any disposals.

In the last year they've been fairly reliable (once in 12 or so times they didn't turn up), and with one exception (strange bloke who tried it on with a very close female friend / colleague) the people who come are extremely helpful and are quite happy to deal with all the lifting etc.

We use a company called "Computers For Charity" at work. They come along and pick up PC's/Monitors/Printers etc.

They also wipe the HD so there is no issues with licenses/senstive data.

I can get a telephone number for them if you want?

Does anybody know of a company local to Cardiff that does this sort of thing on a small scale?

My old Samsung 15" is rather redundant now the 22" has turned up. I got the monitor for free so it only seems right that it gets passed on to someone else for free.

Well I did think of that but would prefer for it to go to a charitable organisation for free than some local tight git.

I thought there was new legislation coming this summer, so there'll be lots of prople offloading old CRTs in the next few months.

If theres anyone local to Salisbury/Warminster in Wilts, I could do with a monitor - I've been given a couple of base units and have promised one of them to a photographer I met the other day. Thing is, it needs a monitor and as im giving the kit away I dont want to spend any money on one! If anyone here has one that works but they dont want, ill take it off your hands

Track 2000 runs Reuse IT, collecting redundant computer equipment from organisations free (Cardiff area). Service, repair and safety check are done by disabled people or unemployed youth/adults on training courses run by the charity. The serviced equipment goes to schools, community/voluntary groups and small start up businesses for a donation.

Track 2000 Community Resource Centre, Resource House, Penarth House, Penarth Road, Cardiff, CF1 7YS, phone 029 2033 2533, email: t.crocker@can-online.org.uk
