Well, after a couple of years of randomly "cutting out" as mentioned elsewhere the old girl has finally gone in to get a brain transplant...

I'm 99% sure that I finally know what the problem is that's been causing my rough running and cutting out issues - I think it's a broken wire or pin in the inline connector that goes from the loom onto the ECU as I seem to be able to reliably get the rough running to occur by flexing that bit of the loom.

Anyway - the entire engine harness is coming out, the hotwire AFM is comng out, the dizzy is coming out and in is going a CANEMS ECU, new loom, coil packs and wideband lambda ... should have her back in two weeks.

Good time to fit a second alternator to power the ghetto blaster in the boot smile

But GB over the years since I was into car hifi I've grown, my tastes have matured and I've become a more rounded and grown up individual so I no longer indulge in such childish and noisy pursuits.

Dunno...

...can't think of any possible reason you should doubt the truth behind my statement. hehe

(God I'm missing the old girl already - but having said that I have a Mk2 Golf GTi 16v on loan from a mate while she's in the garage which is soooooo much fun to chuck around!)
