how bizarre

the tail light/brake bulb went on my last week so stuck in another one and it wasnt working in the right manner so swapped it around in the bulb holder. that seemed to work fine. At the weekend a mate said it wasnt working again so I took it out and swapped it around again as the bulb was clearly ok. Now when I brake the headlights come on and the led warning light inside the cockpit!

how very bizarre.

Sounds like a great safety feature to me, even the people coming towards you and passengers are informaed that you are braking.

Dodgy earth somewhere mate, run a wire from the earth side of the bulb to the battery earth and try it. I suspect this will solve the problem

If it does you then need to find the proper bulb earth and fix it

Could be a bad earth all earth point locations can be found in th bible.I had a similar problem and it turned out it was a loose conection on the earth point under the radiator on the drivers side.

If it is a twin filament that's easy!!....... take out the bulb and put it in properly.

The contacts are making both circuits.

Yes someone got it right. The contacts on the bottom of the lamp are shorting out between brake light and side light supplies.

thank you for that. Will give it a go. I thought it wa as simple as that but after trying it 10/11 times it was still doing it and I couldnt believe it wasnt lined up correctly on at least one occasion!

will give it a go anyway.

I had exactly the same problem with my S3. It turned out to be a faulty twin filament bulb that was shorting inside the bulb so that both the brake light and side lights would come on when the brake pedal was pressed.

This in turn made the headlights work and the dash lights come on. You never noticed this is the daylight, cars just flashed you when coming the other way - but this is quite normal in a TVR! The problem was not apparent in the dark either.

I discovered the problem when driving the car into the garage in daylight and put my foot on the brakes!

The problem was simply cured by buying a new bulb.
