My sunroof opened fine this morning but when i tried to close it again it didn't move.

I've open up the zip in the headlining and exposed the motor. It spins freely when I press the sunroof button. The cog that makes the cables move backwards and forwards appears to have sheared off (see picture). Or is it supposed to be separate?

Can I just replace the cog or do I need a new unit? Any idea of when I can buy the part? and a part number would be really useful!

Also, I have shut the sunroof using an allen key and the broken cog. Will the sunroof stay securely shut like this?

Many thanks in advance for any information

It's broken, you need a new motor, & yes the roof will be fine wound up manually.

Just disconnect the switch & pretend you own a RS wink

Luckily the motor still works fine. I've found the part number for the sunroof transmission unit (911-564-601-01)
$550 on Pelican parts eek
Now where can I find a secondhand unit??

All fixed now.

I sourced a salvage part from a Porsche breakers yard and fitted it myself.
