Right, one rule for this thread. Do not mention the F word. Punishable by Um Bongo.

Some of you may know i'm partial to playing with Mr2s. Mk1's and Mk3's with 3.0 V6's in them have been the order of the day for some years now. It's what made me want to be a mechanic and set up my own business.

My heart will always belong to the Mk1.

Anywhos, having said that, i have just agreed to part ex the Mk3 V6 for this :

Now swallow that mouthful of sick and read on.

I'm not a fan of these cars, trying to be something they are not. Proportions wrong, wheels sit wrong, interior wrong, turbo whistles and missing cylinders.

This one will be different. I hope. All badges will be removed. There will not be a well hung animal on this (only in it....laugh ). A schmert interior and some different wheels, proper suspension and appropriate brakes.

So all in it should look like a well sorted wide arch Mr2.

I'm also doing a couple of other mods which include this :

Some of you will understand biggrin

I don't expect it to be the next thing in finesse but i like daft projects and this is going to be just that.

Couple of weeks should have it home and then i can get started with the jobby autosol.

Feel free to mock. Special lightweight rocks available for those caught at the back of the crowd.

Cheers,
Olber

Eagerly await each instalment of insanity, it takes a certain kind of someone to deem projects like this worthy of wallet and audience. A huge round of applauds to you sir.

Sorry, I prefer the MK3 V6... so far.

I'm really not sure what you can do to make this car not look like a crap replica, but I'll look forward to seeing you try thumbup

Bingo.

That's the plan. All 414bhp of it biggrin If i can't get one for a decent price i'll settle for a 340 AHC.

We know it bolts up, all the clutch assembly will need to work is a 6/10 bolt spigot adapter made up and it will go in the engine bay with only needing to make a tunnel in the boot floor.

No front firewall mods, no fuel tank shortening, no moving of struts.

Watch this space!

No chance i'll have the time now, sorry!

It's a doddle in a Mk2 though if you can swing a spanner.

Awesome!

Could you change the rear lights at all? Other than badging, side scoops and wheels I would say they are the most recognisable replica part.

You need your suede looking at Olie, love the engine plans but such a shame to put it in a replica. Would be so much better in an unassuming looking rev1 3s-fe lookalike smile

I was thinking where I was going to go for my next project and that gearbox and engine combinations is something I have been considering for some time (Ask Paul smile ). The cheaper RS6 engine was a thought but whooshy boosty stuff just adds complexity and reliability headaches.

I recon an mr2 unbaged with a serious 6+ cylinder powerplant, would be a serious car. Great to see you putting it back on earth and making it great. Hope to see more.
