Which would you choose and why? The cupra r has gone down the drain so a used convertible would be nice. Reviews say 2.0tfsi is nice. 3.2 is obvs the best but the 3.0tdi is on par with it. Would like to spend minimum on tuning, eg exhaust and remap to get a sub 6 sec or 6 sec 0-60 smile. Also would be a manaul. Cheers

2.0T if you do any sort of mileage.

3.2 if you don't.

Why not an S4 with the 4.2 V8 if performance and nice sound is your thing?

S4's look good value too.

I had no complaints about the 2.0tfsi in my A4 Avant, good on fuel, saw 40mpg on the motorway no problem and was still relatively brisk. Nice all rounder really.

Well the misses is getting a car for daily runs, as we dont go round and about much and i wanted a nice car before fuel goes tits up. Depreciation isnt that bad to be fair. 07 plates are going for about 13k looking at around a 08 maybe newer dependant on whats available plus price

Theres a world of difference between the 1.8t and the 2.0tsi. Out of the box the 2.0tsi is fairly brisk and with a £500 remap its banging on 6.0 secs territory, and it still has reasonable economy. It's possibly one of the most reliable engines for tuning and vag actively encourage it.

3.2 is 6.8 to 60 i think? I though exhaust plus remap should be able to acheive this, maybe im wrong?

I've the same engine in my vrs tuned to 265. Best properly timed is 5.96. Not saying the a4 will do that but it will get close and still be economical (ish). However in the real world a tuned 2.0tsi has fantastic mid range pull and can be quicker than the n/a 3.2 where it counts...at overtaking speeds. Unless the op really wants a v6 the tsi represents the best of all worlds IMHO.

2.0t is a cracking engine. Easy to tune, and really pretty rapid. I've a special edition a4 which has 220bhp and also quattro. Grippy, fast and does 30mpg. What's not to like?

I'd love the noise of the 3.2 though...

Going for the quatro but i just want something fast. A nice noise, overtaking speed and something to leave boy racers at the lights biggrin
