Tips on spray painting

Got some pop-up headlight covers that are the wrong colour for my car, and I fancy a pop at repainting them myself.

Any tips for getting a decent finish/avoiding drips and "orange peel"?

Buy a panel from the local scrapie and practise first

Don' try to just paint the panel,
start painting an invisible edge about 1 1/2 - 2 inches before the panel starts and carry on painting the same again after the panel ends.
if that makes any sense.

don't try to cover mistakes with loads of paint, reflat when dry and go again.
