Check Strap Loose?

Ford Focus Mk1, 3dr.

Both doors swing open far too easily. No noise, just loose.

Are check straps repairable - can I just tighten them? Or is it always a case of replacement parts?

They do wear out, sometimes you can just take them out (from inside the door) and turn them over, but often a new one is the best solution.
