V6 clutch problem.

Slight problem and could do with some advice. I last started and washed the S1 TVR about 6 weeks ago, today ready to wash it and get it ready for taxing....car started fine, went to put it into reverse and could feel resistance. I know that the clutch fluid has been leaking (minor) for about 12 months. Checked this first, thinking there may need some fluid adding, but it was up to 3/4 mark.
Again tried to put the car in reverse, but could just hear teeth being touched (ouch). Pumped the pedal several times, then took a gamble and put the car into reverse.....heard before that clutches can sometimes seize solid and a shock can free them.
Car juddered backward and stalled. After this, I removed gear, started it again but could still feel resistance to engaging gear. Tried all gears, but to no avail. I am guessing that the lever has punched its way through the plate on the slave cylinder, but am looking for a bit of help and advice before I go wading off and taking the gearbox out to look at the clutch and slave cylinder.

It is probably not a gearbox out job. The master cylinder design means it can leak past a seal with no loss of fluid. That's probably what is happening here. These can be resealed or replaced. The slave cylinder sits on the side of the gearbox and can be removed from under the car fairly easily. again resealed or replace. certainly check those out carefully first as the gearbox is a sod to remove, in fact for a clutch replacement it's probably easier to take the whole engine out.
I had the same problem on my S2. I bought a seal kit for a Saab 9000 1985-1993 master cylinder from www.partsforsaabs.com, and this cured the problem.
