Mk1 Shift Lights

Trying to set my shift lights.

I know how to access the menu, hold large right hand dial and fog light together, scroll through to shift light setting and turn large dial to alter the settings for red, amber then green.

Just not sure how to set the values into the memory? After setting the green value should I press the large right hand dial again, if I do it says something like "hold the fog light for 5 secs to restore default settings" then goes back to start of setting with the time, contrast etc.

If I go back into menu again to check the shift light settings it appears to be always defaulting back to factory settings?

So when I've set the green value what do I need to do, turn off ignition, start car or what?

If I recall, you just press the fog light briefly i.e. less than 2 seconds and it will save what you set and return to the normal operating display.
