If this car was sold as a OPC used car in Feb2012
Why does it's warranty run out Feb 2013?
When all OPC approved used cars come with a 2 year warranty.

Also if it was sold as a OPC approved used car in Feb, it would have had on new or very very good tyres on it,
Why now only 1 month later does it have a new set of non n spec tyres on it.

The car was, as stated, sold as an approved used car in Feb 2012 by Porsche Centre Swindon. And as also stated the Warranty expires Feb 2013. At the point of purchase the buyer (the gentleman for who we are now selling the car)attempted to negotiate a better deal on it, the result a 1 year warranty instead of the usual 2 years. We see this quite a lot, nothing sinister, nothing unusual. Why does it's warranty run out Feb 2013?

Re: tyres. The owner of the car fitted Michelin Super Sports just simply because he considered them a better (road use)alternative. The Michelin Pilot Sport cups are available with the car if required. As you will know Cup tyres start life with approximately 4.5 mm tread depth. So at 2.5 mm (rears)they are not even half worn but such tread depths would be considered inappropriate on standard road going rubber. (In the interests of completeness the Cup fronts are on approx 4mm).In my view, as well as countless others, the Super Sports are by far the better road use solution on a car of the type.
Hope that clarifies things. Advert police will not being making any arrests on this occasion

Cheers

Are Michelin Super Sports available in "N" rating now, then? Surely, if not, the warranty has just been voided?
eta... look perfect car for someone... just wish I had enough pennies.
I believe MPSS are still not N rated. The Warranty is not void, but if you make a claim it may not be honoured.eta... look perfect car for someone... just wish I had enough pennies.
as mentionned above the car is now on Michelin Super Sport - indeed non N rated yet.
Lots of people have tried them and all talk positively about them.
It is very much possible that the car was previously on say Michelin PS2 N rated or Cups, but that the owner wanted something more "modern" road tyre...hence the change.
I don't see the problem with that.
Also when you send the car for maintenance, OPC doesn't necessarily force you to change tyres unless they reach the min. thread limit.

Maybe someone bought another car from 911V earlier in the week and wanted the GT3's Warranty and tyres, so Henry swapped them? (in, cheek, tongue!)
Would that have been swapped in-house or outsourced ?
yes I was also thinking of another thread that's been locked today

you are obviously NOT the warranty company . . . non-N rated tyres = warranty FAIL . . . so in effect if the car has non-n-rated tyres on it, saying that it has a valid warranty on the car is actually untrue and very misleading - surely?!?!?!!Edited by 911Thrasher on Monday 2nd April 10:25
But maybe it does have the N rated tyres on it - who knows?

let me rephrase: i dont see any problem running on these tyres - but yes you are correct OPC might call the warranty off should you want to make a claim or warranty work. Hence swap tyres before taking it in before annual servicing/works at OPC should solve the prob. But maybe it does have the N rated tyres on it - who knows?
