All,

I'm after some advice; I'm not sure if I'm being a massive hypochondriac or at risk of doing proper damage through being a stubborn fool.

After a run, a number hours/day or so later (it varies but always a substantial gap) I get fairly intense and very localised (to a small area) pain in the inside of both tibia (much more pain in left leg). Contact/pressure to the area is very painful, day to day movement is ok, no real restrictions/no discomfort when walking though jumping hurts a bit after...maybe 10 seconds bouncing on the balls of my feet. I can ride a bike pretty hard on it and not notice it all as well.

Usually I'll rest at least a few days (usually more like 4-5) before running again and the first 10 strides or so hurt then it's fine, no pain at all, until long after the run as above.

Last time I ran it was one of my longer ones and as usual, nothing happened immediately and then that evening I saw what looks like the start of a bruise. Following couple of days the bugger is huge. Again, very painful under direct pressure (the poke with a finger test) but beyond that almost unnoticed in daily life.

It doesnt fit the bill of anything I'm aware of (shin splints/stress fracture/muscle damage) as everything in that list I would expect should hurt like a bd when running on it, but its never sore in a run (as I say, after the first 10 strides or so).

I'm pretty fit, not new at running but I'm starting to ramp training up for an upcoming event but I'm wondering if I'm carrying a proper injury or if it's something that can simply be ignored/allowing proper gaps between runs.

It's happened for a while now, but the bruising is new and I'm pretty sure I had no impacts to that leg in the surrounding period (can't 100% rule out an off on the bike but I'm pretty confident I didnt bash it)

Run is over compacted gravel/hard mud paths - probably not as hard as pavement but a little more uneven. Distances usually in the 2.25-3.1 mile range.

So then, my army of internet experts....what the fk is wrong with me...and can I MTFU and keep running? hehe

I know I should probably see a GP....and I'll get there at some stage but right now I'm in the office with a run pencilled in for later in the day.
