I think it was in Brazil that there was a news reporter who had a family member in organised crime. He used to get the tip off about a crime (murder maybe?) about to happen and used to be there to film it.

It does seem that in countries like that some people just assume they can do what they want with complete impunity because they've got the money or contacts to protect themselves.

I wonder how often such a person does something like that to another person who turns out to be more protected than they are?
