Time is almost upon me for a new set on the cerb... Haven't decided on brand yet but more interested in what sizes people are running?
I have 18" spiders with 255/35/18 on the rear and 225/35/18 on the front... I find the front very twitchy and seems to tramline and follow bumps a little too easily..
Is anyone running 225/40's on the front? Does it help? Or perhaps 235's on the front or is this too wide for the cerb?

The wider the tyre the worse the tramlining is likely to be. Going up to 235 is unlikely to help. I have 18" spiders with 255/35/18 on the rear and 225/35/18 on the front... I find the front very twitchy and seems to tramline and follow bumps a little too easily..

Personally I found the biggest improvement in handling was to ditch 18" spiders and go to 16" Oz Saturns as originally fitted, though that doesn't seem to be a popular option for cosmetic reasons.
Wow 255 fronts, thats a pretty heavy profile. I would have thought that would kill the initial responsiveness even if it improves overall grip. However I havent tried so I might be wrong.
I run RL7 17's which I wanted for best of both worlds in looks and handling, without them turning in the 50p's.

Bud put 225,35,18 on the fronts,and 255,35,18 on the rear.at the mo mine seems a nightmare to drive cos she follows every rut in the road.My arse end was all over the place but with new falkens on she is 100% better,but still bad up front.My geo was done recently and was spot on,so its got to be the tyres.
Mine has the standard (Mk II) set-up. The tramlining has always increased with wear and, consequently, is perfect with new fitments.
I run Toyo, as recommended and the car has the most phenomenal turn-in and slide self-correction that I have ever known.
In short - put a decent set of new rubber on and I'm sure your normal road driving probs will dissappear.

Same as mine tyre wise and after the Geo set up yesterday seems as good as it did on the 17" azev's .to resurrect this thread. I am selling my spiders with tyres on and replacing with 18" SP12s ( other thread)
should I stick with the same tyre sizes - im assuming I should and if so whats the current verdict on best all round tyres to get. Currently on new bridgestones ont he back and toyo on the front. I want to use this opportunity to put some great boots on.
As well as brand could you also mnetion which model of tyre to enable me to price up.

Owen - when I had my road Cerb a couple of years back (before Jamie got hold of it
) I ran with the Falkens (452's iirc) in standard size on 18" spiders after having Toyo rubber on it for a long while. As has been said, new boots cured any tramlining I'd previously experienced and I rated the Falkens as a good all rounder too . . . see you in DTEC?

Great thread... I got 235's on the front and 255's on the rear on spiders but they are soooo twitchy and I have had a geo set up toO!! I thought it was me!! OR bushes, dampers etc!!
On my previous Cerb I had RL7's (Gazzab, your old ones) and I think it went so much better running on them.
I may even try them out to see what I prefer as I love the look of my spiders but the RL7's aren't that bad to look at and they work really well on the road

I had very bad tramlining that I just thought was a Cerbera characteristic. It was greatly improved with new tyres (same as originals) and small camber adjustment. I did not notice the tramlining worsening and guess it crept up with tyre wear thankfully to be 100% improved with the tyre swap.
I've currently got 18" spiders with 225 35 front and 255 35 rear. Goodyear F1 assymetrics. I don't have any tramlining problems but don't particularly like the fact that the rims are sooooooo close to the road, plus the ride is pretty harsh.
Never been a fashion victim so I'm going to 17" wheels to get a bit more sidewall!
