Is this a Tuscan S
Discussion
Hi, a friend of mine is looking for a Tuscan S Convert and there is one in the classifieds
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3588709.htm. But is does not have the winglets on the front and the badge on the back does not say S.
Did a few come out of the factory with a few bits missing.....

I was considering looking at this car myself but with work etc I've just had no time with it being a long way from me. If you look it up on the register it shows it as not being an 'S' but as said above it only claims to have the 'S' pack. No idea what the difference was!!
The other downer is that it was up for £28k for a month or so until it reappeared yesterday with a £4k price hike

The "S" Pack was sold for £10k and is an 'S' engine with extras... well maybe if you were lucky... CR box and 3:73 diff.. not many if any got a CR box because of diff shortages at the time... Aircon, HID, full leather, bigger brakes, different exhaust pipes mainly.
That car is a 2005 built car registered in 2006 ..I guess .... Black painted light surround front and rear instead of body colour.... need the VIN to be sure.
Gordon ..yes cars came out with bits missing
..but I think they all had winglets...
... I just didn't get sidelights

For the Tuscan Mk2 the 'S' pack was 380 bhp, air con, gas discharge main beam lights, aero additions (Front winglets, boot spoiler on early targa cars), Big bore exhaust, bigger brake discs, 18" alloy wheels, DAB headunit, and close ratio gearbox. (Unfortunately it transpires that most of the later Mk 2's came without due to unavailablity of gearsets).
The full convertible cars were all 4.0 litre (With a blue cambox for standard and red cambox for 'S'). Full leather trim was a £1k option on all models.
Of course you could 'up-spec' a standard 4.0 litre car with a/c, 18" alloys etc and this is where it does get a little confusing. As far as I know 110 Convertibles were built in total with approx 50 being 'S' spec. Diffs changed during production from 3.73:1 to 3.46:1 due to availablity of these items from BTR (I think that Holden, who were the main users, changed their requirements).
I hope that this helps to explain some of the differences!!
Best regards to all, Tony

This:The other downer is that it was up for £28k for a month or so until it reappeared yesterday with a £4k price hike

"12K service just completed and included valve adjustment and full tune up, new alternator, new up rated clutch and new up rated engine mounts "
explains the hike in price, if not comepletely in the region of 4k.
I had a look at the car in January. The gearbox felt notchy, possibly because of the worn mounts and clutch not working properly. Service was overdue since October, so we left it at the owner. Nice chap though. It has a few dents and scratches in the paintwork., but the colour combination is very nice.
At least technically it should be fine now. I´d say there is room for negotiating...
Regards,
Björn.

ks though!
I think it's been edited since the above comments!! Looks like a very nice example and if it had still been £28k i would've been trying to get down there to have a look.
