Been meaning to post this for a while. Why would the picture distort so, or is it an optical illusion? All the other pictures were OK.
Taken using only zoom standard settings.

Isn't the lamp post leaning in to the left??? Not at an angle, but a gentle curve? And the white blockwork, does it not curve up at the left bottom corner???
Oh God, what is happening to my eyes

Perhaps you are too close and the widest angle on your camera gives a slight fish eye effect.
Nice pic though. You could straighten it out using PS or PSP if you wanted.

Are you sure that's not how they were in real life?

ah, I see that but had just assumed the post was bent?

Have you got the full version / that section enlarged - it might be more obvious larger

Well I know what these Gozotian builders are like but I am sure they were straight.

Taken from the other side of a road, so was zoomed in a bit. Can't take the credit for the picture my daughter took it.

Try taking another picture of some straight lines at the same distance/zoom length. Perhaps its a characteristic of the lense.

Looking at that larger image I see what you mean - could it not be the angle you have taken the image at (it looks as if it's at an angle rather than flat on?)

Dang, missed it by 3 mins. Yep, converging verticals: it happens with wide angle lenses (unless they're very expensive).

It's barrel distortion. Have a look at this :-

www.dpreview.com/learn/?/Image_Techniques/Barrel_Distortion_Correction_01.htm

You CAN'T fix in Photoshop directly (yes, I know about the sphere method, but it's not that accurate).
