So I brought a new car at the end of last year, switched my insure policy over to that, and have been paying for temporary cover for the old car. Extending it a month at a time until I can sell it.

Called up to renew it for another month tonight be to told that they will only cover it another 5 days, as I've reached some limit they apply on temporary cover. Which they've somehow forgotten to mention to me each time I've spoken to them before. Very unimpressed to say the least, and told the guy politely that he'd just lost my main policy when its up for renewal.

So anyone got any tips on anywhere that would insure me for a month, or do I need to call a broker in the morning?

Not used them (so can't vouch or recommend), but TempCover offers short term policies.

If you cancel after one month, do you get 11 months money back, or do you lose a bit more than that?

Depends where he brought it from. Africa is more effort than Stow-on-the-Wold.
