Not wishing to stir matters up (much) but I seem to have started a bit of a discussion on the CCCUK website. In my view it is about time someone did and I am pleased that the esteemed Mr Vetteheadracer has joind in.

It can all be found on the following link so, go on, have your say.

No point in going to the AGM unless me, you, us, are prepared to do something about it. i.e. run the Nats or be the events co-ordinator, or the driving events co-ordinator etc.

Trouble is so far none of us has put ourselves forward. I was going to put myself forward for driving events, but Nick Ryden got voted in before the AGM a couple of years ago.

I would happily be the driving events/european events/racing events co-ordinator as I am unofficially anyway!

I think that would rule about 85% of the members out then as they only ever seem to bring out their cars once a year for the Nationals.

I think CCCUK is way to political. I know through talking to Ben thats the reason it took so long for the new site to get the go ahead, by which time we had this site and all those region sites.

the trouble is you try to do the best u can.hoping that u have done the be best, but what ever u do u get beaten from one side or the other
i have to say cccuk web site takes it self way to serious
also with out the rake off from the gate the club would not be able to put the nationals on due to the cost(5k+) the club is not cash rich only just making it though the year
(i do not run the nationls only give a helping hand)

I just spent the last three weeks reading all the replies etc. etc.

Well, what to say. I know I enjoyed the Nationals, as I have done every year (think I've been to 3 or 4...), but like anything, there's scope for change.

I have to say for Nick though, he does arrange bits and bobs for events, perhaps though the problem is they are based too far up North? He does Rockingham, and has in the past sorted out the 'Pod, Silverstone and so on, and of course the driving event at the Nationals, which is a pretty good use of the venue considering the restrictions (can't really see a track day or otherwise at Knebworth can you?) I know a lot of his frustration has been around support (or lack of) for some of these previous outings.

Why not have Mr Ryden/Barnes look after the North end of the country and Nige do Southern/European events? Just an idea - seems that's happening anyway.

Anyways - I've been enjoying Vette's lately, hope everyone else is having fun,

Francis.

I think CCCUK have got it partly right by having a waxing and a driving course, only who wants to coat their machine with a layer of Herfordshire's finest dust?
For my twopenneth's worth why not do what the MOPAR club do and have a weekender at Santa Pod or Avon raceway where owners can wax & race till their hearts content and at the same time being in a more central area for Northern vetteheads.
