Anyone got any opinions on how far is safe to tilt an engine/gearbox (specifically nose down)?

The engine is a Toyota/Lexus 1UZ-FE and the Gearbox a VAG 01E btw.

It'll make my life a *lot* easier if I can tilt the engine down by about 3 degrees.

I don't think 3 degrees different from its standard installation will make much difference.

The main issue would be oil pick up but only at much bigger angles.

Well you sometimes drive down hills and that's safe. So 3deg shouldnt be a worry. Just make sure your propshaft angles dont get silly

I figured as much but wanted to ask the opinion of those that know more! smile

It's a transaxle so no propshaft worries, in fact it's half shaft issues that are making me want to angle it.

Oil sump is at the front on this 1UZ-FE so oil pickup shouldn't be a problem.
