What do i do? I can either get a fiesta ST soon and pay less for the insurance or save a little longer and get a focus ST with double the insurance quote! Just wondering if anyone would recommend either one? I am kinda stuck! Any help would be appreciated!

Depends what your specific requirements are, are you a single lad or a family man? I own a fiesta st because insurance is low and its fairy nippy, getting on for 2 years of ownership now and still no need to change it!

Fueling for i can see tank range from 200-300 ( depending on driving style ) and insurance is about £800 being 22 and a few mods listed.

If its possible id go for the facelift focus ST if you were to as im told the engine has been upgraded with a stronger bottom end!

fiesta's are fairly low priced now, again go for a facelift is you can as theres a better dash layout, trip computer mp3 etc, the pre-facelift gets none of that

I'm not single but not looking to start a family yet, I am 20 years old so insurance is a bit frustrating but i was getting quotes on fiesta st's at around 800 quid but they were stock. If I am entirely honest, I have never heard of facelift cars. Does that mean a 2006 car as opposed to a 2002 car? If you could link me to an example, that would be great? Would you recommend a fiesta ST then because thats more towards im heading towards, due to costs at my age!

I'd wait for the Focus ST, I waited until my 21st birthday until i bought mine when the insurance was £900.

My best mate bought a Fiesta ST a couple of months before I bought my car, He had a drive in my Focus and he bought one himself a month later. In my opinion the Focus is a much more complete car and nicer to drive/own.

I have a Fiesta ST because of the way cheaper insurance, fun little car, doesn't keep up with other cars in its league but with a few mods: K&N, Exhaust etc. it will be spot on.

Defiantly get a facelift as you get all the extras mentioned above. They've come down a lot now, bought mine in Jan for £6000, low mileage 07.

There is no difference in engines between pre and facelift models, only looks. If you keep the Focus standard it will return about the same MPG, mine is full stage 3 tuned and proven 315bhp / 365 torque and still returns 28mpg driven with respect, spend £7000 for the car £3000 for the mods and you have a RS focus slayer.

I've been in a focus ST and I loved it, and I am 70% sure that I will wait and get one. Although I am tempted just to get a fiesta ST now, very impatient you see! What sort of insurance would I be paying for both? The focus ST facelift looks quite similar to an ordinary one!

Personally i think the pre-facelift is the more aggressive looking car and looks less like the standard focus.

The engines are the same, why would they change the bottom end design of an engine that has been proven to be extremely reliable in volvos for years?

Been told that its a bottom end of a focus rs , It can withstand alot higher power!

Why do you want to slay RSs? I assume you mean mk2s?

The ST is a nice car in its own right, doesn't need to be modified to RS power levels for that to be the case!

Yes the RS has many differences over the ST as it is pushing alot more power, most of these differences are at the top end of the engine though.
The ST's are the same as eachother.

Sorry let me rephrase, RS power on a budget, at the moment a ST is a performance car bargin, you can pick them up from a little as £5k, spend a few quid and you have very capable car.

Still putting it out there to show the difference of the pre-facelift and facelift fiesta's

Pre-facelift

Facelift. Different front and rear headlights and new dash layout, more extras like Technology pack ( auto wipers, auto lights, powerfold mirrors and MP3 aux port ) heated seats and trip computer!

Not going to lie, the Focus would be one to save for , the engine alone is worth it. Just depends how much you want to spend on fuel!

OP I would save for the Focus if I was you - I bought my first car about a yr ago on my 21st birthday, a mk1 Focus RS. Insurance comes down a lot when you turn 21 so by the time you've got the cash together for the car hopefully the insurance will be more reasonable. Let us know what you go for!

Maybe test drive both now if you can and see if you think the Focus is worth waiting for. I have no idea what the price increase is but the facelift Focus ST is way nicer than pre in my opinion, and again, would
be worth waiting for!

So yeah, get the most expensive of the 4 options!

I would get a focus all day long, I have had both face lift fiesta and focus and the drive on the focus is way better plus with the fiesta when you drive the car it makes you always want to go fast everywhere which I didn't like , but as for the focus it's a lazy drive it makes you want to drive normal plus there's a nice 5 cylinder noise, fuel wise focus is a wee bit more expensive but worth it IMO

If you are a girl, get the Fiesta. Otherwise, buy the Focus.

I looked at both when getting a new car, and got the Focus, as I thought it was the better car, the Fiesta is a bit too young for me, not to mention less powerful.
