I have done a search, but can't find a definitive answer. I am looking at buying a 4 month old Porsche from either a Porsche dealer or an indy. Is the original warranty still valid and extendable?
Spending near £50k at a dealer feels safer but the indy has the one I want.

Paul

Just a thought, but could the dealer buy the car from the Indy at trade, do the necessary and then sell to you with full dealer support?

yes it is - as long as you own the car for more than 90 days!

if it's 4 months old, it's still under the 2 year manufacturer warranty, which continues in effect regardless of who sells it, OPC or indy

100% YES.

It probably has the (optional, but pushed by the OPC) 3rd year warranty too, but not sure if this would become invalid on an non OPC/Private sale?

In the end the dealer was just too weird! I went to pick the car up and pay and pay the remainder after deposit with my debit card and he said he couldn't take a debit for that amount of money, even with my bank on the phone saying why not! What would have been acceptable was me sending £10k per day to him the week before, but without seeing the car.
On the way home I popped into Guildford Porsche and bought a car, a much more pleasant experience. In the end all things happen for a reason.

If you are buying an Approved used Porsche, you will get whats left of the initial 2 years from 'new' warranty, and when that expires the 2 years approved used warranty kicks in. So you'll be covered for a total of 3yrs 8mth. Had the same thing with an 18mth old car at Porsche Byfleet.
