20 year old. 3 Points. Interesting car?
Discussion
Yeah you guessed it. A what car thread.
I'll shortly be turning 20, I'll have 3 or 4 years no claims (had a bike at 16 so some insurers accept that as a years no claims). Unfortunately I've just collected my first 3 points, so this does affect insurance a fair whack.
Not really a fan of hatch backs, I'd rather have something different (hence the username). So I'm open to suggestions as to what to get. Petrol and running costs aren’t so much of a big deal, its just the insurance that gets me.
I've got Confused.com open in the other window so whatever you may suggest I'll run through the insurance to see what quotes i get (should be fun!)
To set the ball rolling, I've tried this, possibly the most unlikely car for a 20 year old male petrol head to drive, £1200 to insure! That’s the kind of price I’m wanting to pay

Budget is £2500
Insurance - hopefully less than £1800
Cheers

I'm 20 and when I got 3 points it didn't seem to affect my insurance at all.
What's your budget for the price of the car?
My 3 points code is MS60 (basically a misc code for offences that dont fit into any other code. So means hefty insurance)What's your budget for the price of the car?
Bugger, budget is up to £3000 but ideally below £2500.
What about something like this, it's certainly different and shouldn't be to much to insure.
I know the one in the add is sold but there must be some more for sale somewhere.

What did you do to deserve the odd points code? Shame really cuz the SP30 doesn't really make any difference.Bugger, budget is up to £3000 but ideally below £2500.
How about something like a 3 series compact, I found the insurance quotes a bit cheaper than the standard saloon or coupe. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3773948.htm

1. Close down Confused.com.
2. Find a decent Mercedes 190E.
3. Phone around for classic car insurance.
4. Done.

This is the most important thing. IME Confused doesn't offer very competitive prices.
Oh, I don't know. Classic insurance aside, there's never a company that comes within a millions miles of the Admiral group for me and any other young drivers in non-deadly-dull cars I've seen - and Confused gives lower quotes than their direct websites. Best place to look for me, by a long way.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
