Reseating injectors

Top tips please on putting fuel rail and injectors back in !

i've replaced bottom O rings as they were in a right state !!! took them off to do coil packs and leads, they pop out easy enough but whats the art to getting it back together without tearing a ring or stressing the injectors ?

Do the injectors just pull out of the rail ? I have new seals for the top too but they seem stiff to pull out .....

I'm learning so much as I go but some things you just have to tread carefull with ....




Rad comes back today, just wailting for s/s coolant pipes and we can start putting back together
Removing old rad mounts was a PITA but worth it

I have a different fuel rail to my early 4.5, but re-seating the rail is a real pig of a job. Its basically leverage, patience and plain old brute force. Like you, I thought Im gonna break an injector or rip the o-rings, but either though luck or awesome skill (ok...luck!) I managed to not damage any of them.

On the Rover V8 I applied a tiny bit of petroleum jelly to the O rings (Vaseline) they go in a lot easier. It does mean you have to go out and buy a jar of vaseline though

Silicon grease will do the same and you don't look :cough: at the check out but only a light smear is all that you need no need to go daft.

I would use k y jelly it seems to work a treat on other things.;)

Lube and twist. Must only be me who found this to be easy when I replaced mine.

The only way I could get them back in on mine was by loosening the intake manifolds, but that was mainly due to the heads having been skimmed. Also used plenty of KY, which is safe on rubber, Vaseline less so.

So basically the advice is to lube up well before pushing in

What about the top ones into fuel rail ? Do they just pull out in the same way ? I have 6 that are dry and clean but 2 that look like they may have been weeping very slightly
