Error warning on Mas 3200
Discussion
Do any of you 3200 GT drivers report errors when the little red "error" sign comes on?
I picked the car up from Swindon on Saturday and last night it came on when I started it up. I turned off the ignition, re-started and it disappeared. Later the same night it happened again, this time I drove it for about 5 miles.
The book tells me to report every incident, although it hasn't happened today.
I will report this as I've only just bought it, but how often does this little message pop up?

Never seen the error light myself, though I do occasionally get a 'check engine' - think I've seen it about 6 or seven times in the last year - usually after a 'hot start'.
As Andrew says, 'reboot' the car and all will be well, if it's still calling an error after a reboot then it's probably time to bother the dealer.

Thanks.
The ride did become a bit lumpy when it was on but then the manual says that the shocks are set to a default.
The best thing about driving the car is the looks I get from other people. I live in Stoke on Trent and drive to Crewe to work and I've never seen another Maserati in the area.
People do a sort of double take as I drive past.
I also get cars pulling up close behind to see who the car manufacturer is.

I had this message come on when one of the fuses went (fuse 16 IIRC) - scarily just this one fuse took out my suspension, lights (front and back), windscreen wipers, indicators and electric windows. Driving at night, in the rain, around Milton Keynes, was out of the question!!
17 fuses later, the problem was fixed thankfully!

I've certainly had the red error message once but never saw it again. I've had the check engine and limp mode a couple of times, the more recent of which resulted in the dealer spending 8 weeks trying to isolate the fault. Anyway it's back now and seemingly OK so I'm trying to forget about that!
I did get told by Meridien Modena when I first bought it that you are more likely to get spurious error messages if you just put the key in and start it immediately and that you should turn it on and let it run through all the checks then turn the key the extra bit to start. Not sure if it really matters but I tend to do as they suggested. Do other people do this?

aving had this explained to me by MAranellos alst time I was there (thought I'd make some use out of my time loitering at the parts desk whilst buying some coolant!).
Basically the sensors on top of the shocks can twist around a little causing a temporary minor short - which turns on the error light.
Easiest way to turn the light off is to disconnect the battery and reconnect - this should reset the error.
If the error is still there after you do this then it's time to go have a chat with your friendly dealers service guys who'll probably fit you a an ew sensor and nothing more dangerous than that.

I have family in S-O-T who I visit frequently and remember seeing a silver 3200 kicking about around there a couple of years ago. Not seen one recently though. What colour is yours and I'll keep a look out. I guess your fairly familiar with the phone trade fraternity and the amount of exotic cars they run about in around S-O-T? Seen (and been in) pretty much every exotic thing there is due to this fact!
Mine's a sort of light blue called Azzurro Argentina - quite distinctive - and my plates look like PAUL (if you squint your eyes )
Yes, the only people with money around Stoke are the phone companies and John Caudwell in particular.
In fact the football team I follow, Port Vale, are sponsored by Tricell - another Stoke based phone company.

Drove a tatty '99 manual, which had the engine change 14k ago ( 63k on clock now) and all services but paint and wheels were well knackered.
When I put foot down, the turbos were audible, as per usual turbo whistle, but then this almighty whistle / whine sound came from the dash area, at 4 thou, in each gear. Salesman told me to drive through it and it went away, but kept returning.
He played dumb on this and said it aint happened before etc etc. Sounded costly to me! No "error" or "warning" lights.
Loved the car though. The missus was well smitten. Wouldnt entertain this one though, even at £19k. But there's a nicer auto we may consider.
Any idea what that sound may have been?
