Checking Error Codes EP3

A mates EP3 is showing up an emissions light. Is there an easy way of checking the codes like the paperclip method on earlier Hondas or will it have to be taken to a garage with a generic obd2 reader?

You can get an OBD2 code reader from eBay for less than £20. Very easy to use, just plug into your obd2 socket under the steering wheel by the footwell and follow the screen.
Don't pay extortionate "diagnostic" fee to the garage!
