I think you'll have to do some research on how they work in the particular car you've got. My current car has electrically detonated seat airbags, but istr the ones in my last car were mechanically operated; I remember reading about a special pin that had to be installed before removing the seats so the airbag wouldn't deploy if it got bumped about. I wouldn't mess about with them at all until you are completely sure that you understand what you are doing.

would it cost a lot for my dealer to do it you reckon? i would have thought the most costly thing would be the airbags themselves, but i already have them

I woud say that airbag work is highly specialised and would a dealer want to work using

secondhand stuff ? Very much doubt that !

Think of the compensation culture of today.

What if these s/h but newly fitted bags fail to deploy when needed ?

Just my 2p worthsmile

I've no idea if this applies in your case - but on the Rover 75 / MG ZT, the areas around the seat airbags use special stitching that is designed to tear very easily if the airbag deploys.

Not something I would want to mess around with, and I doubt a dealer would want to touch it!
