First off is it a pump or is it an electric jobby?

And second, assuming its fooked, how much for replacement (parts and labour) from an Indy?

Not my car, asking on a female mates behalf, taaa.

Age of ka? The old bubble shape one was defiantly a pump not sure on the newer one. Cost wise- no idea phone around.

It's usually not the pump.

If it's howling on full lock, it's short of fluid. The reason it's short of fluid is because the rack is shagged and leaking its brains out; it's a common fault which Ford have conveniently ignored for years. My daughter's Ka cost me a small fortune when this (and many other things) went titsup. Rubbish Kas (cars).

Indeed, often referred to as a Kak among mechanics I know. :heh:

I suggested fluid and surprise...there was none. Shes topped it up...ill break the news about the fked rack tomorrow...

It can also be the hp metal hose that comes direct out of the pump, we have had a few of them in. The replacement is stronger and sits further away from the engine and exhaust.
