Characterising an iPod
Discussion
Hi all
I hope this isn't a silly question but has anyone ever done a back-to-back with an iPod versus the current batch of digital hi-fi components available i.e. Naim, Linn etc.
I'm not expecting the lowly iPad to out perform either but would be interested in how it compares, given lossless media. I can imagine, as with their usual kit, that Naim engineer the usual pace, timing thing but is the iPod flawed sonically?
Any thoughts appreciated.

What aspect are you trying to compare exactly? I hope this isn't a silly question but has anyone ever done a back-to-back with an iPod versus the current batch of digital hi-fi components available i.e. Naim, Linn etc.

Sticking an ipod into a hifi vs something like the Naim Unity, or...?
Sorry, poorly worded question
What I was asking was if anyone had actually done a back to back comparison between an iPod and a proper piece of hi-fi that plays ripped music.
I understand that you can buy a Wadia dock that bypasses the dac on an iPod but I'm just looking for any experiences of people that have compared an iPod with say a Naim Uniti + storage.
I'm assuming the DAC in the iPod is what lets it down but by how much?
