After 4 weeks of ownership, still not driven it yet (cluth blah blah blah)...started her up the other day in prep for RAC coming - after 3/4 mins plumes of smoke from the engine bay, engine off, popped the lid, water at the ready.... questions??
1 - does she burn
2 - do i risk a bowl of water

Decided to leave it and the smoke died down - now what the hell could this be - temps were up to about 70. Im thinking (hoping) settled oil / water on something...

Havent been able to see if she starts as battery is now dead...

I think im just unlucky - this is RON V old car and he had no trouble in over a year..fingers crossed all willbe good when i get her on the road (if its before winter!)

Is it parked outside? If so was the smoke white or grey, if it was white it might have just been steam from rain water that has got into the engine bay, of course if it was in a garage then.................??!!!??!!??!!??!!??

I remember when I started ours once after it hadn't been run for about 5 weeks last winter. The condensation that was evaporating off the radiator had the neighbours coming out to ask it if was all ok !

Following a particularly enthusiastic run from Salisbury recently, i sat in a Q on the way down into Marlborough, with vapour/smoke/fumes rising from the rear wheel arches.
The repmobile driver behind seemed to be most concerned, but once on the move again the haze disapated.!!
Must admit I had one hand on the extinguisher !

had smoke coming from my cerb engine bay when queing to get into Oulton Park on sunday.
Transpires a/c pump bearing was disintergrating and causing drive belt to slip.
Had to ask a circuit marshal for a knife to cut the belt off. Sorted for the trip home later

PS TVR GT cars won both days yippee

Almost as bad as the time you had Jodi and I fighting our way out of the garage, trying to keep down the McDonalds we'd just skoffed, choking on all the tailpipe smoke you were blasting back at us?

I snapped up a V8S the other day Olly, meant to thank you for the TVR introduction last year!! Am loving it (when its on the road)
