Personally I wish there were designated places for this sort of thing with those taking part or watching to sign a full disclaimer

Everything can be FUN if done SAFELY

Probably not the sort of thing you expect to read from a senior IAM observer !!

councils should provide a square of tarmac just out of town for people to congregate with their cars and do "stuff" with high sound reflective fencing.

have a mc donalds and kfc on site and you're onto a winner! biggrin

I entirely agree. We need suitable safe controlled designated places.

The Tesco's near me was regularly used by learner drivers to practice reverse turns etc.

Fine when one or two did it on Sunday morning but when this grew to nearly 20 Tesco stopped it dead.

You can understand why.

Equally you can understand why this injunction has been obtained.

But I do agree, there is a need for properly controlled meetings.

Do you really need an injunction?

Around here they just used this huge things called 'gates'.

There's something special about an estate car being that sideways. smile

I agree that it would be better for all concerned if there was somewhere they could go for car shenanigans that wouldn't upset the neighbours.

They had one years ago. I got one in 2008 for watching people drag race down the back. It use to be out of the way and never caused any problems as you only drove there if you wanted to watch people race. They put bumps down it not they go closer to the retail park and just caused problems (with 'normal' people go to mac donalds. Use to get some serious cars there and on a few occasions saw a Nissan GTR, RR Phantom etc so not just little kids in 1.2 corsas.

Indeed, sounds to me like some common sense is required, not more cameras and pointless "warnings".

You mean like the "Drift What Ya Brung" events?

They do this at Santa Pod, and Silverstone, and Donnington and probably other places too

The thing is that there are numerous possible and safe venues all over Britain.

The problem is that the owners of the land are legally liable.

There should be a standard disclaimer, attendees sign online, pay and download a digital pass.

Money used to fund a couple of plods who can the digital tickets on entry.

That way all drivers and cars are IDd and behaviour should be safe enough.
