Why is it still impossible to get?

Apparently it is because tankers are carrying normal unleaded ( to satisfy panic buyers. )

Shell, have you no appreciation for buyers of your premium product?

About to become a Momentum99 buyer for good and I've been buying Vpower, as the fuel of choice, for many years.

Boohoo.

Drop the snobbery, go buy Momentum 99, realise there is no discernable difference other than the price and get on with your life!

V-Power is 99 octane in the UK, so is Momentum 99.

I wonder how many people run their cars on V-Power/99 yet their cars havent been mapped for it?

Placebo bum dyno or real dyno verified?

My car(which is mapped for Japanese 100RON) doesnt alter its ignition map when running on M99 or V-Power, that tells me there is bugger all difference between them octane wise. smile

modern timing systems will adjust to the better octane, even the R32 had more low down punch on it, you should get a more noticable gain on a blown engine

some cars thou are limited to protect components, on one of the EVO tests a few years ago the V8 M5 wouldn't made the same power regardless of what they put in it

my golf was mapped for 98 fuel as are most scoobies / evos i believe, dont know about m cars

"Does V-Power work for all cars?

The high octane rating of Shell V-Power [99Ron] is ideal for any engine"

Dave, can you show me where on their site they claim it's a minimum of 99.5?

Every stock car out there for a start...

I can notice the difference between momentum and v-power, but then my car was mapped on v-power..
But I don't have a shell station nearby or on my commute route, so often run momentum when plodding about.

different engines do behave differently, my car was blown and it picked up noticeably 300-400 revs earlier on v power over tesco fuel, and runs like a POS on regular stuff. V Power is made differently to tesco 99, i seam to remember reading that v power is blended rather than just being an octane additive and only comes from one refinery in the UK hense why sometimes you get disruption in delivery

i certainly have no problems in using either

Just filled up with Momentum99 having phoned every Shell station within range of my near-empty tank. Agree with Zed Ed. It is becoming clear that Shell are not concerned about keeping their premium product available whilst BP and Tesco seem to be able to. The petrol station operators have no info either - all those I spoke to had no idea when they would be restocked.

it was in an interview with the engineers, they guarantee 99 ron but when it leaves the factory its just over 99.5 with an aim to being around 99.5 when used, they also talked about why it was different to just an additive / octane boosted fuel

i think i have it book marked but its amongst 1000s of porno links biggrin this could take a few 100 tissues to get to wink

I am hoping Waitrose 102 will be available one day;)

Seriously though, VPower is a signature product which they have just effectively dropped.

So long as it's cheaper than V-Power, I'm in!

Does seem odd, but it doesnt surprise me that they've prioritised normal fuel(95/diesel) over V-Power when supplies are being used more quickly than normal.

I'm still waiting for my local shell(less than a mile away) to repair its third tank and start stocking V-Power again. 3 years ago they were 2 weeks away from selling V-Power again, still no sign of its return.

i think its stanlow where its made, so the closer you get to the refinery the more chance of finding it I assume
